Professor Yazici’s special clinical interests are Behçet’s syndrome, connective tissue diseases and clinical research methodology. Within the department, he has been running a specialised Behçet’s syndrome outpatient clinic for the past 30 years. The focus of his research has been mainly clinical aspects and drug studies related to Behçet’s syndrome. The team has also conducted research into various inflammatory and endothelium-derived factors in Behçet’s syndrome, usually using other rheumatic diseases as controls. This center would provide a suitable position for a fellow with a particular interest in Behçet’s syndrome, other vasculitides including Takayasu arteritis and auto-inflammatory diseases like familial Mediterranean fever.
