  Prof. Ferdinand Breedveld
Personal Ferdinand Breedveld is Head of the Department of Internal Medicine and Rheumatology at Leiden University Medical Centre in The Netherlands. Within his department, 5 research fellows are trained every year.
Interests

Professor Breedveld’s special clinical interest is in the pathophysiology of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and the development of rational treatments for RA. The main focus of his clinical practice is connective tissue diseases, osteoarthritis (OA) and other rheumatic diseases. The focus of Professor Breedveld’s research encompasses the diagnostic aspects and predictions of disease outcomes in patients with RA, genetics of early occurring forms of OA and biochemical and genetic markers of OA.
